Quellen & Standards

At Weltanalyse, we hold ourselves to rigorous editorial standards intended to earn and maintain your trust. This page explains where our information comes from, who oversees it, and how you can hold us accountable. Our approach is spelled out in our editorial policy and supported by every member of the team.

Who is responsible for what we publish?

David Schuster, our Chefredaktör, has ultimate responsibility for all editorial content and publication decisions. He leads a dedicated team of editors and reporters who each specialise in their beats. Every article is assigned, drafted, reviewed, and fact-checked before it goes live, with final approval by a human editor.

The editorial team is named on our Our Team page. Daniela Sommer, as Redaktionschef, oversees the daily newsroom, headline review, and commissioning. Lukas Engels covers national politics and the Riksdag. Monika Fischer handles economic and market reporting. Benjamin Hartmann manages culture and society, and Stefanie Lang leads fact-checking and corrections. Each journalist is accountable for their own work and subject to a clear chain of editorial oversight.

How do we handle mistakes?

We correct errors promptly and transparently. Stefanie Lang heads our fact-checking unit and handles corrections. If you spot an error, email corrections@weltanalyse.de. Each correction is logged and linked in the original article. We also publish a detailed corrections policy that explains our process.

When we discover a significant mistake, we update the article with a clear note stating what was changed and when. For serious errors, we may issue a separate correction notice. We do not delete articles to hide errors; corrections are always visible. Our fact-checking team verifies every correction before it is published, and the responsible editor reviews the final version.

What we rely on day to day

We draw on primary sources such as official government documents, court rulings, press conferences, original interviews, and public databases. Secondary sources include established wire services, peer-reviewed studies, and reputable Swedish and international media. All material is verified against multiple independent sources where possible.

Our reporters use direct quotes from named sources whenever feasible. Anonymous sources are used only when the information is critical and cannot be obtained on the record, and the reason for anonymity is disclosed to readers. We also use public records, legislative texts from the Riksdag, official statistics from Statistics Sweden, and data from recognised research institutes. For financial and economic reporting, we rely on central bank publications, market data providers, and regulatory filings. All content – including material that may have been assisted by digital tools – is reviewed by a human editor before publication, as outlined in our AI & automation policy.

What you can expect from us

You can expect accurate, balanced reporting that avoids spin and oversimplification. We label sponsored or affiliate content clearly. Our editorial mission is to help readers understand complex issues, and we maintain a firewall between commercial partnerships and editorial decisions.

We commit to correcting errors quickly and openly, to sourcing our reporting transparently, and to distinguishing clearly between news, analysis, and opinion. Our funding – which comes from display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships, and content licensing – never influences editorial conclusions. For details on how we handle commercial relationships, see our advertising and affiliate disclosure and our ownership and funding page.

How to challenge our reporting

If you believe we have published inaccurate, misleading, or unfair content, we want to hear about it. Start by contacting our editorial team at editorial@weltanalyse.de or our fact-check desk at factcheck@weltanalyse.de. For formal complaints, refer to our complaints procedure.

We take all challenges seriously. Your complaint will be acknowledged within two business days, and we will investigate thoroughly. If the complaint raises a factual error, we will correct it following our corrections policy. If the complaint concerns bias, fairness, or a breach of our editorial standards, it will be reviewed by the relevant editor and, if necessary, escalated to David Schuster. We aim to resolve all complaints within ten business days and will explain our decision in writing.
